May Karin has always been a crucial contributor in the family. Her formative years were characterized by social responsibility, charity and the idea of taking care of each other. Her great-grandparents, Nils Andreas Hegelund (1848–1925) and Anna Fredrikke (1852–1946) were local celebrities, their family being well-known for their social engagement.
May Karin is someone who’s passionately immersed in food and cooking. She is the custodian of all the old family recipes and traditional fish dishes are her specialty.
Now retired, May Karin occupies herself these days by volunteering at the Red Cross as well as the Church City Mission. She has recently expanded her engagement through the House of Hegelund Foundation.
